Tim Schafer was coming up against a hard deadline for Grim Fandango, and they hadn’t written the final puzzle. So that they’d have something to hand in, Schafer wrote a set-up, then layered lines over the top of the solution so that people reading it would think it was printing error.
By the time they noticed and called him out on it, he’d have a real final puzzle for them, basically teaching us all that the skills you learnt in Year 10 are the ones that will truly carry you through professional life.
Tim Schafer is awesome for reasons. This is one of those reasons.
